Been here three days, I can already tell it's going to be one of those holidays that fly by in a flash! I guess when you're enjoying yourself the days quickly turn into weeks and before you know it a month will be gone! Therefore I'm determined to enjoy every second of it !
Enough of the chit chat, here's the update of the day:
Today's adventure was a boat trip. After breakfast we walked to the pier, where a boat was waiting for us. We were greeted by our guide and before you know it we set off on our trip to the beautiful island Khai.
The trip was about an hour and a half. On the way there I couldn't stop taking videos and pictures, the scenery was absolutely beautiful, it was like something out of a postcard, picture perfect! Apparently one island we passed by was used to shoot the film "Pirates of the Caribbean" and another island we saw, appeared in the film "Beach".
(These aren't the islands I mentioned, just random ones. Also in the bottom left photo there's a small hut and someone actually lives there all year round, just to collect bird's nest, in order to sell them)
Before reaching Khai island, we stopped and did some fishing. Never seen so many fish caught in such a short period of time! They just kept on coming. (I only caught a baby one haha). According to the captain, we stopped in the perfect spot to catch fish or else we wouldn't have been able to catch as much as we did.
Once the fishing was over, we ventured into Khai island. What a scene, whitest sand I have ever seen in my life with clear blue water! We did some snorkeling and although I'm not a fan of the sea and what's found lurking beneath my feet, I plucked up the courage and went for it! I didn't go out very far nor did I spend a long time doing it, but I got to see some fish and can now say that I have snorkeled! I also got to feed the fish, as you can buy a loaf of bread (not to eat haha) and throw it into the water. A quote I would use to describe the bread is, "now you see me, now you don't!!" The fish attacked it like there's no freakin tomorrow!
Upon arriving, the island barely had any people on it, but soon after it was invaded, mostly with Chinese people! Don't want to sound mean, but man are they WEIRD! God knows what degrees it was, yet they were dressed in scarfs, leggings, long sleeved tops. Walking around with umbrellas, shawls wrapped round their head! We must have looked weird to them in just our bikinis haha! But hey I wasn't there to judge them and I should respect their culture and beliefs. It's a real shame I left my mobile on the boat, as I wasn't able to take any photos of the beautiful island and what it had to offer. :(
When we were ready, the boat came back for us and while we were on the island, they prepared us a delicious meal with the fish we had caught earlier! It was "finger lickin' " good! After a great meal, all I can say is that I was stuffed and ready for a nap (surpriseeeeee haha).
When we arrived back at the hotel all I wanted to do was sleep, but instead I bravely decided to cycle back to the village! (I think I've got the hang of it know, as I managed to make it to the village with no injuries haha). The shop I hoped to visit was closed but the owner was kind enough to open up just for me! I bought some souvenirs and postcards to send to my family! Also I decided to do a good deed and bought some crisps for the children that were playing on the street just outside the shop! They were so happy, which made me even happier! Then I realized that I might have caused a war between them, as soon as I said bye they were fighting between themselves for the crips!!! (Ooooppppsssss) !!
Pheeewwwwww, I've said a lot today haven't I ? Don't worry if you're reading this, you've made it to the end, congratulations haha!
